Retirement Planning

What a Retirement Plan actually does for you

  • A retirement plan is a roadmap. It shows you where you are financially right now, where you want to go, and how to get there.
  • It walks you through a procedure to formulate a plan customized for your exact situation.
  • It lays out strategies that you can implement for immediate results.
  • It can help give you a higher level of confidence.
  • It can be the first of many meetings with your credentialed professional to provide guidance along the way, adjusting your plan as needed.

What’s included in a Retirement Plan?

  • A financial summary showing all your current and expected assets,
  • A projection for your retirement showing how much money you will  need and where it will (hopefully!) come from,
  • Recommendations for actions calculated to help you achieve your desired retirement,
  • An analysis of when you can/should retire,
  • A recommended strategy for when to start Social Security,
  • A personal consultation with an experienced credentialed professional with opportunity to ask any questions you want.

Retirement Planning is an on-going process

Retirement planning is much more than having a big notebook sitting on your shelf.  In fact, you probably don’t really need the notebook at all.  A plan needs to be continually tracked and adjusted.  Your credentialed professional should provide periodic reviews to update the plan for your changing circumstances and the economic climate.

When do you need a Retirement Plan?

You should start the financial planning process as soon as you start thinking and planning (or worrying!) about retirement.  If you are over age 50, and want to maximize your retirement finances, then the answer is that you probably could benefit now.

“Mandatory” ongoing Retirement Plan reviews

In our view, today’s investors really need an ongoing relationship with a credentialed professional who provides continuing guidance for your financial future in periodic reviews.  He helps you implement your plan.  He checks your progress.  He helps to keep you financially on course.

What happens in your Retirement Plan reviews

Our agenda starts with an overview of your most recent plan: Are you on track to meet your retirement planning goals? Do you need to make any changes? Then we discuss the current economy and the outlook for the markets. We talk about how your investments have performed and any adjustments needed. You ask any questions you want. Be sure to bring your spouse, a list of any questions you have, statements for any investments not held with us, and any other pertinent documents.

What does it cost?

Your initial consultation comes at no charge and no obligation.  This is where we get to know each other. You decide if we’re a good fit for you.

We determine if we think we can actually improve your retirement planning situation and if you meet our client criteria. If you decide to go forward, a Retirement Plan as described above will cost about $300, or possibly more depending on the complexity of your situation.  But check us out first before you write us a check!
